Distributing donation

with a party vibe!

A highlight of our trip so far was giving out the clothing and toiletry donations to the children. We did this in a church hall where the youth leaders had set up a table of clothes and toothbrush/toothpaste so it was like a buffet. The youth leaders really made a fun event out of it for the kids with singing and interactive games. The church also made sure the kids didn’t go home hungry by providing lunch (rice and egg) to the children.

The children were extremely considerate. They didn’t fight over anything, only took a few things each and some even asked to take things for their brothers or sisters who were at home.

It was heartwarming to see the excited faces of the little kids as they received their “new” clothes. Many put them on straight away!

Some toiletry items were donated as we walked around Aroma when we were de-worming. We very deliberately chose to only hand out toiletry items to mothers so that it would benefit the children.

It was fun to do this along with our friends from Wollongong, Dan and his daughter Airlya (15 years old and in Year 10) who used to live in Zimbabwe.

Once again a big THANK YOU to everyone who donated! Please know that your contributions really made a difference in lives of those who have so little.
